Office 365 Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Set-up

 

Due to the ever-increasing risk of hackers and cyber attacks, you will now be required to use MFA to protect your digital workspace and data. Follow the steps below to make sure you set up MFA correctly and know how to log in from wherever you are.

Most important– after MFA is enabled, never ever approve an access request you didn’t initiate.

If you got an approval request in the app and it was not you connecting to MS 365 / CRM – contact IT immediately, your account is compromised!

 

1.       IT support will activate MFA for your account and you will receive the below prompt.

Please click on next to proceed with the authentication.

2.       Please download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.

You can find it on the App Store or in Google Play Store. Or you can click on download now and it will bring you to a website where QR code will be displayed for download.

After downloading the app please select next to continue the procedure.

 

3.       In the next step you will scan a QR code to the app.

4.       Open the app on your phone and select Scan a QR code if you haven’t added any accounts yet. If you are already using Authenticator please select the + icon on top right corner.

5.       After that select Work or school account.            > Click Scan QR code.

6.       A You will be also prompted to allow notifications for request. Please Allow it or you won't receive notifications in the future. (If you press no you will have to open up the app by yourself and wait for the authentication to appear.)  After scanning the QR code and clicking next, you will be prompted to try out the authentication. You will see a number pop up in your browser and you will have to input the same number in the authentication app and press “YES“.

7.       After that you will get a message saying you have successfully authenticated your account with MFA. From now on you will need to use the app to log in to a new Cloud based service on your phone, local home PC or your work PC, boardrooms included. You will have to log in again when using the same computer after 90 days to those cloud based services and in case you didn't get a prompt to Remember the device and stay signed in.


8. After successful Authentication you may get a prompt saying Stay signed in.

Please select don't show this again and click Yes, after this it will be remembered that you authenticated this web client service and it will not ask you for 90 days or until you sign out your self.
